Following this is an essay which I have been mailing to candidates for a year now, with
good results. Feel free to use it.

SOCIAL PROBLEMS AND FATHERLESSNESS
Many of the issues that will have to be addressed by a political candidate have a
common thread running through them. Consider these facts:
90% of all homeless and runaway children are products of a fatherless
home.
85% of all children with behavioral disorders come from fatherless
homes.
80% of rapists motivated by displaced anger grew up without a father in
the home.
63% of youth suicides are committed by fatherless children.
75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers had no father
at home.
71% of pregnant teenage girls had no father to guide them.
70% of juvenile felons are fatherless.
Daughters without a live-in father are 53% more likely to marry as
teenagers.
Daughters without a live-in father are 164% more likely to be a single
parent.
Daughters without a live-in father who marry are 92% more likely to
divorce.
The male most likely to abuse a woman is a fatherless male.
Most members of youth gangs have no father to look to as a role model.

The truth is, programs, such as child support, aimed at eliminating poverty have
actually increased it by driving the provider/father out of his family. In this
respect, child support programs have been a collossal failure. We are in the midst
of what amounts to a war on fatherhood, and the results have been devastating to our
culture.
100,000 new police officers cannot replace a million loving fathers. Millions in welfare
dollars cannot replace a committed, stable family. Children need Dads, not a
checkbook. Children need Dads, not "Visitors". Children need both
parents! While most politicians are promoting ever harsher sanctions against the
false stereotype of the "deadbeat Dad", in effect feeding a poisonous demon, the
courageous candidate will acknowledge the importance of a father in the life of each
child.
"THE SILENT MAJORITY" will recognize the common sense of the politician
who advocates intact families and family values. Drug abuse is not the bottom line
problem, the fatherlessness which leads to it,
is! Teen pregnancy is not the bottom line problem, the
fatherlessness which permits it, is! Gang
violence is not the bottom line problem, the
fatherlessness
which breeds it, is! Other politicians address symptoms by throwing good money after
bad. Be superior by addressing the realistic root of the problem: governmental
incentives which create FATHERLESSNESS.
FATHERS WORK, WELFARE DOESN'T!

that the press is the organization which does this.
BUT IF WE ALL CALLED 888-GO-DAN-GO AND ASKED THEM WHAT THEIR "FAMILY STABILITY
PLATFORM" WAS, we may get them to respond.

to protest at the candidates' events/debates and make it an
