Ministry of Children and Family Development, the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children, University of Victoria Schools of Child and Youth Care and Social Work, and Vancouver Island Health Authority.

COST: $35 plus GST

$30 plus GST for members, staff or students of the sponsoring organizations

The Symposium on Fathering will feature presentations on the latest research and initiatives directed towards fathers of interest to Family Service Practitioners.

Special Guests:

Dr. Kerry Daly who will deliver the key note address, "Fathering: The Personal and Political Challenge"

and

The Honourable Linda Reid, M.L.A. Minister of State for Early Childhood Development

At this symposium Dr. Kerry Daly of the University of Guelph will speak about the changing roles of fathers. He will also talk about his cross-Canada research into father involvement being conducted by the Father Involvement Research Alliance. As a recipient of a Community-University Research Alliance grant Dr. Daly has been overseeing an examination of socially defined subpopulations of fathers who face unique challenges (Immigrant fathers, gay fathers, separated and divorced fathers, young fathers, Indigenous fathers, new fathers, and fathers of children with special needs). We will also hear about other father involvement programs taking place in BC, and about a new initiative of the BC Council for Families: the Father Involvement Network- British Columbia.

**NOTE: Registration MUST have payment included for you to reserve a spot.

Cancellation of your attendance MUST be given 3 weeks in advance of the training date, if not your payment will not be returned and your spot will be given up. If sufficient notice of cancellation (3 weeks or more) is given, 85% of your payment will be returned.
