CHILD ABDUCTIONS TO GERMANY, THE ATTITUDE OF THE GERMAN EMBASSY IN PARIS

French MP
Member of the the Franco-German parliamentary mediation commission

PRESS RELEASE 10.07.2001

CHILD ABDUCTIONS TO GERMANY

THE ATTITUDE OF THE GERMAN EMBASSY IN PARIS

Following the demonstration supporting the parents of children who have been kept in Germany, in particular Maurice ELFEKE, at present detained in a German prison, Pierre CARDO, MP - member of the Franco-German parliamentary mediation commission, is astonished at the refusal of the German Embassy to receive his Representative, present at the demonstration.

This negative attitude can only be explained by the refusal of the diplomatic authorities to hear the message that a member of the Franco-German mediation Commission hoped to transmit and the troublesome questions that could have been posed, notably those concerning the unacceptable treatment meted out to a French citizen in Germany and the concerns regarding his health and his personal security.

In this situation, it is no longer sufficient to ask a civil servant to denigrate French parents, but becomes a question of German credibility.

This sort of behaviour is a bad omen for the future.

COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE 10.07.2001

ENLEVEMENTS D'ENFANTS VERS L'ALLEMAGNE
