In ostensibly stable, monogamous marriages the alleged father's child is not his supposedly biological offspring in one out of five cases.  In contested paternity cases, as is customary for paternity in children born to single mothers, the chance that an alleged father is not the biological parent of a given child is one out three. 
     Should you sign that birth certificate?  Be careful, you may may quite likely commit yourself to a life of servitude and financial slavery without having much of a chance of ever playing a meaningful role in the life of the child for which you have to foot the bill after you sign, even if the child is not yours.

Patriarchy — Was there ever such a thing?
