The Tenth Commandment

Greed punishes and destroys our families.  We all pay.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's." Exodus 20:17

Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th Edition tells us that to covet is:

1 : to wish for enviously
2 : to desire (what belongs to another) inordinately or culpably ~ vi : to feel inordinate desire for what belongs to another.

Obviously God thinks stealing to be so abhorrent a crime that He forbade even thinking about it.

Nevertheless, in our arrogance we don't heed The Ten Commandments.  The result is that whole industries grew up around the crimes that the Eighth and Tenth Commandments were intended to prevent.  We see whole government departments come into existence that invent new ways by which to get the tax payer's money, to such extraordinary extents that the demands now exceed by far the tithe (one tenth of one's earnings) that biblical laws thought to be appropriate.  We have the divorce industry and its affiliated branches (mediation, counseling, therapy, and child support enforcement) that constantly conspire to design new ways by which to filch from the participants in divorces anything that they can.  An enormous legion of bureaucrats has come into existence during the last three decades at the behest of family-hostile forces that are involved in an all-out quest for power and domination of the world, ostensibly "in the best interest of the child" and to provide equitable rights for women.

We constantly find ourselves trying to keep our heads above water in the never-ceasing flood of new legislation, ostensibly designed to transfer money from the rich to the poor but in reality nothing more than to bring all of us into poverty.  We are being inundated by legislation that is used to extort increasing amounts of money from us and feel that we are being pressed into servitude.  It is servitude demanded of us to feed the insatiable demands of a system that has grown to extraordinary proportions.  All of that is to ensure that not only the unfortunate fathers of broken families but also all tax payers must pay their dues to alleviate the social devastation brought about by the planned destruction of our families.

Every night now about 40 percent of American children go to bed without a father tucking them in, kissing them good night, saying a night-time prayer or reading them a bed-time story.  Fatherless children now comprise more than one quarter of Canadian children.  The majority of these children live in "families" that are AFDC or welfare recipients.  These children and all of us must pay for the results of the bureaucracy's greed for power.  If you are not convinced yet, take a look at what Statistics Canada tells us about fatherless children.

God knows what He wanted to protect humanity from when He issued the Tenth Commandment.  When will we understand what His intentions are?  Was it not all a lot easier and more comfortable for us when we still tried to live by The Ten Commandments?
